Reading the number: how many won is one baht?
In the baht-to-won direction, the figure you see is 'won per 1 baht.' The Thai baht is usually worth a few dozen won — around 40 KRW at the time of writing. So 100 baht is roughly 4,000 won, and 1,000 baht is about 40,000 won. Type a baht amount into the converter above and it shows the won equivalent at the current rate, so you can read a Bangkok tuk-tuk fare or a ฿-priced shelf tag straight into won.
Where the rate comes from: the live mid-market rate
The rate shown is the base rate (mid-market/reference rate) published by the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank), quoted once per business day at around 11:00 Korea time, with the previous business day's value carried over on weekends and holidays. It is the midpoint banks quote each other, so it differs from what a bank branch, an airport exchange booth, or your card network actually gives you — they add a spread and fees, which makes real exchanges a little more expensive than this number. Treat the figure as a baseline and pad your real cost estimate a bit above it.
Using it for travel, shopping, and transfers
Taking 1 baht ≈ 40 won as an example, a street-stall pad thai at 60 baht ≈ 2,400 won, a Thai massage at 300 baht ≈ 12,000 won, and a guesthouse night at 1,200 baht ≈ 48,000 won. For a Lazada or Shopee order, a 500-baht item ≈ 20,000 won — before shipping, duties, and your card's foreign-transaction fee. Sending money to Thailand works the same way: the bank layers a fee onto the displayed rate, so the amount that lands is a bit less than the mid-market figure suggests.
Frequently asked questions
How much is 1 Thai baht in Korean won?
Usually a few dozen won — roughly 40 KRW at the time of writing, so 100 baht is about 4,000 won. Rates move every day, though, so check the live figure the mid-market converter above shows for the exact current value.
Can I exchange cash or pay by card at exactly this rate?
No. This is a reference mid-market rate. Banks, exchange counters, and card networks add a spread and fees, so your real rate will be a little worse. If you use a travel prepaid card or a local ATM, check its own fees and applied rate separately.
Can it also convert won to baht?
Yes — just divide the won amount by the rate. At 1 baht ≈ 40 won, for example, 10,000 won ÷ 40 ≈ 250 baht. Or flip the direction (THB↔KRW) in the converter to enter won and read baht directly.
