Get the audio out of a video
Sometimes you only want the sound from a lecture recording or a meeting video. Load a video file and this tool drops the picture and keeps only the audio track, saved as MP3, M4A or WAV. Handy for listening on the go, writing transcripts, or preparing podcast source audio — no software to install.
Format and quality
Choose MP3 for small, universal files, M4A for Apple-friendly output, or WAV for near-original audio. MP3 and M4A let you set 128–320 kbps. Remember the result can't sound better than the video's original audio.
Your files only
Extraction runs entirely in your browser, so videos are never uploaded — safe for personal recordings. Note this handles video files on your device; it does not download from streaming services like YouTube. Convert the result with the audio converter, or trim it with the audio cutter.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract audio from a video?
Load a video (MP4, MOV, WebM…), pick an output format (MP3, M4A, WAV), and the tool saves only the audio track.
Does it work with a YouTube link?
No. It extracts audio from video files on your own device; downloading from streaming services is not supported for copyright reasons.
What about quality?
MP3 and M4A let you pick a bitrate (128–320 kbps); WAV is uncompressed. It cannot exceed the quality of the video's original audio.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Extraction happens only in your browser; nothing is sent to a server. Only the engine is fetched once, and large videos can take time.
